Barclay Academy is a non-selective academy, with an agreed Published Admissions Number (PAN) of 196 new Year 7 students per academic year. If the school is oversubscribed, applications are considered against the criteria set out below. After the admission of students with Statements of Special Educational Needs where Barclay Academy is named on the Statement, the selection criteria will be applied in this order:
Admission of children in public care (looked-after children).
Admission of children with specific medical, social, or special needs.
Admission of children with siblings currently attending the Academy.
Admission of children who live in the priority area for whom it is their nearest Hertfordshire maintained school or academy that is non-faith, co-educational and non-partially selective.
Admission of children who live in the priority area who live nearest to the school.
Admission of children living outside the priority area on the basis of distance, with those living nearest to the school given priority.
These rules are applied in the order they are printed above. If more children qualify under a particular rule than there are places available, a tie break will be used by applying the next rule to those children.
