Work with Us
Thank you for your interest in joining Barclay Academy. It is a pleasure to lead a thriving and ambitious school where our purpose is clear: to ensure every student achieves their full potential and leaves us ready for a life filled with opportunity and choice. None of this is possible without our talented and hard‑working staff, whose commitment and professionalism underpin everything we do.
We are a welcoming and inclusive community where staff support one another, share ideas and take pride in doing things well. We value colleagues who are reflective, collaborative and committed to continual improvement. Our staff go the extra mile for our students and for each other because we know our work matters.
At Barclay, students are encouraged to work hard, aim high and be respectful, and we expect the same from the adults who support them. Our knowledge-rich curriculum, expert teaching and strong pastoral care help us maintain a calm, purposeful environment where students feel safe, supported and ready to learn.
As part of Future Academies, we benefit from high-quality professional development and a shared commitment to academic ambition and school improvement. We are proud of the progress the school has made over time, including a positive Ofsted report, and we are determined to continue building on this success.
We welcome applications from individuals who share our values and who are committed to making a meaningful difference to the lives of young people. Future Academies is committed to diversity and inclusivity, and we encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds who have the skills and qualities outlined in the job description and person specification.

What Our People Say About Us
At Future Academies, our success is built on the relationships we foster with our community, staff, and partners. Hear directly from those who know us best – their words reflect the passion, trust, and dedication that define who we are.
Mark Buckley, Associate Assistant Principal / Head of Physical Education / Lead Practitioner Sports & Healthy Living
Having worked at Barclay Academy for a number of years, I am very proud to be part of a school with a strong sense of community. Throughout my time at Barclay and within Future Acadmies, I have always felt supported and inspired to develop and progress my practice. One of the key strengths of both the school and the Trust is the consistently high-quality professional development on offer. I also value the many opportunities I have had to work across the Trust, experiencing the high quality education delivered by a number of schools within Futures.
Emma Forsdyke, Acting Head of Humanities /History Teacher
Barclay Academy is somewhere you can grow as a professional. The school's principles of having unapologetically high expectations of our students helps them to achieve their potential but in turn, the school supports staff to be the best they can be too. Through the coaching programme and Future Academies CPD, it has made me the best teacher I can be. The quality of education as well as the cultural capital students get when arriving at Barclay is second to none, and this belief is demonstrated by sending my own children to the school where they are flourishing.
Kate Mahoney, Librarian/Reprographics
I work in Reprographics and the Library here at Barclay. It is a wonderful, warm and really caring setting, where everyone works together and really look out for each other. I see our staff go above and beyond time and time again for our wonderful students and I feel so proud to be a small part of such a great team. We are constantly encouraged and celebrated here at Barclay whether we are staff or students and it makes for such a special place to come to everyday.
