At Barclay Academy, we are proud to offer our modern, versatile facilities for community use outside of school hours. Whether you're looking to host a sports club, community group, performance, meeting, or special event, our spaces provide an ideal setting in the heart of Stevenage. We welcome local organisations, clubs, and individuals to make use of our well-maintained and fully equipped facilities.

Barclay Academy, located on Walkern Road in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, has a rich history rooted in the development of the New Town. Established in 1949, it was the first purpose-built secondary school created in the UK after the Second World War, designed to accommodate the growing population of Stevenage. The school opened its doors to students while construction was still underway, a testament to the community's commitment to education during a time of rapid urban development.

Sports Facilities

Grass Pitches: Available for 5-a-side, 6-a-side, 7-a-side and 11-a-side football matches. The large 9-a-side pitch can be divided into three 5-a-side areas, making it ideal for tournaments and casual games.
Indoor Sports Hall: Suitable for various sports, including football, netball, basketball, badminton, and tennis.
2G Pitch: The 2G floodlit Astro at Barclay Academy is available to hire either as a single 7 v 7 pitch or as two separate 5 v 5 pitches
Dance and Drama Studios: Equipped for rehearsals, classes, and performances.
Changing Rooms & Showers: Facilities available for all sports bookings.
Parking: Free parking available

Event and Meeting Spaces

Common Room: A spacious venue, The school common room is an ideal space for a small community group or a relaxed meeting space.
Main Hall: A Spacious Venue fully equipped with PA System accommodating seating for up to 250 people banquet style or 400 theatre style. Can be complimented with outdoor space.
Dining Room: The Dining Hall is a large space available to hire standardly set out with rows of tables and chairs.
Meeting Rooms: Flexible spaces suitable for conferences, seminars, and workshops, with capacities ranging from 12 to 30 people.
Classrooms: Ideal for training sessions and educational events

Children’s Parties: Offering both indoor and outdoor facilities suitable for various age groups.
