Mental Health and Wellbeing

At Barclay Academy, we are committed to fostering a whole‑school culture where emotional wellbeing and mental health are prioritised, understood, and championed by every member of our community. We believe that promoting positive mental health is a shared responsibility, and we work collectively with students, staff, and families to create an environment where everyone feels supported, valued, and able to thrive.
Our approach combines whole‑school strategies, universal provision, and targeted support, ensuring that every student can access the right help at the right time. By working in partnership with local services and external agencies, we provide consistent, high‑quality support tailored to the needs of our school community.

We embed wellbeing and mental health education throughout our curriculum, helping students develop key skills such as self-awareness, emotional regulation, self‑care, and resilience. We recognise that life can present challenges, and we aim to equip our students with the confidence and strategies to navigate difficulties, grow from their experiences, and feel empowered in their personal development. Our goal is to ensure every student can flourish both academically and personally, regardless of their circumstances.

Our commitment to professional excellence underpins this work. Our Mental Health Lead & Deputy Mental Health Lead have completed comprehensive training and our pastoral staff are trained Mental Health First Aiders.  Every member of the Pastoral team actively engages in ongoing professional development related to wellbeing and mental health.
